ME-Series Speakers
Pioneer ME-series speakers are protected from sun and water exposure, meeting both IPX7 and ASTM D4329 UV Resistance standards for all-weather reliability. The Mica Reinforced IMPP monocoque cone with a butyl rubber surround is constructed using an advanced in-mold thermo-bonding technique, ensuring superior water resistance while maintaining high-quality, powerful sound. The symmetrical motor design, with high-strength suspension, is optimized to provide stability, linearity, and clear, low-distortion sound reproduction.
Built-in RGB LED
Enhance the look of your boat! These speakers feature a pre-installed RGB LED backlight system that uses the semi-transparent cone as a diffuser for a multi-color light source. Simply connect the four dedicated wires to an external LED controller (not included) to create a look that matches your new sound!
IPX7
This speaker is rated IPX7 according to the Ingress Protection rating system. It has been tested in a controlled environment and shown to be water-resistant under certain conditions, meeting the requirements of classification IPX7 as described by the international standard IEC 60529 - Degrees of Protection Provided by Enclosures. Despite this classification, the device is not resistant to water damage in every situation. Please refer to the IPX7 classification for more details.
Advanced Assembling Technology (for CONE structure)
Adhesives, when exposed to sunlight, are typically the weakest point and a source of mechanical failure. These speakers are assembled without adhesive, thanks to an advanced assembly technology that uses heat-welding directly to the speaker chassis and other components. This concept, which minimizes mechanical joints and avoids conventional glue in the assembly, greatly enhances the final product's quality, both in terms of acoustic performance and longevity.
Fully Covered Basket
For added protection against water and moisture infiltration, the speaker basket is manufactured using temperature-resistant composite materials to aid in heat dissipation with the magnet and voice-coil circuit. This basket is also completely sealed at the rear of the magnet to prevent any possible infiltration, thereby protecting the speaker's electrical system.
Gold Tinsel Wire and terminals
Gold tinsel wire and gold-plated wire terminals are used to enhance resistance to corrosion and improve current transfer.
Thermo-Bonded Elastomer Surround
Each speaker utilizes a thermo-bonded elastomer surround that resists color fading and running, thereby extending the product's longevity.
Unique Spider Material
For the marine application of the TS-ME speakers, Pioneer has specially designed an all-new rear suspension. Unique materials allow only air to pass through, maintaining unrestricted cone movement and overall performance while protecting the speaker coil from water infiltration, which can cause corrosion and breakage.
Mica reinforced IMPP™ Seamless Cone Design
An extremely rigid yet lightweight cone is essential to avoid cone failure and distortion under high power. Pioneer’s IMPP™ composite cones meet this need perfectly. CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) was applied to create a curvilinear cone of varying thicknesses during the injection process, maintaining a balance between lightness (responsiveness) and rigidity (precise audio and tight bass). To further improve this rigidity-to-weight ratio, Pioneer uses an advanced process that integrates different materials, such as mica, which resonate at different frequencies, creating a perfectly balanced cone across the entire bandwidth.
To add even more rigidity to the cone while improving its longevity, this marine speaker cone is manufactured without joints and without the use of glue. The voice coil former, the main cone, and the central dust cap, normally three separate pieces, are now a unique monocoque construction.
Polyimide (PI) Wave Guide tweeter
Polyetherimide can withstand high temperatures while maintaining stable electrical and mechanical properties over a wide frequency range. Its strength-to-weight ratio makes it ideal for high-frequency vibrations of the dome and thermal management of the voice coil. We also carefully designed this hard dome tweeter with a front diffuser and wave guide to help maintain the perfect audio balance during the transition from on-axis to off-axis listening.
A proprietary offset driver system added to the speaker design produces a smooth frequency response, and its uniquely shaped horn delivers loud, uncompromising sound for people enjoying water sports at the back of the boat.
