Easily Upgrade to High Performance
Pioneer’s A-series sound design purposely matches the subwoofer and full-range loudspeakers to provide seamless and smooth sound characteristics with dynamic, high impact bass that lets you hear and feel the music.
Easy to connect
Traditional subwoofer terminals are mounted horizontally or vertically, forcing wires to be bent to fit, which can be difficult if heavy-gauge high-performance wires are used. The Pioneer shallow subwoofer’s angled binding-post push terminals make it easy to connect speaker wires, save space, and simplify installation.
Flexible Options
With the included accessories, this subwoofer is designed for flexible installation in multiple ways. The feet can be screwed onto the bottom or top using the pre-drilled holes, and the pads on the feet limit possible sliding. When facing downwards with the four legs installed on the bottom of the subwoofer, it leaves space between the subwoofer and the floor, pushing the sound waves towards the floor where they reflect to deliver a richer sound with more pronounced bass. Facing the subwoofer upwards allows it to move more air into the cabin, delivering strong and clear bass. A vertical orientation disperses the sound like conventional speakers, producing fast and punchy bass, with direct waves being reflected off a surface, leading to a particularly precise and punchy sound.
Glass-fiber & Mica reinforced IMPP™
Polypropylene (PP) is a tough thermoplastic resin that is an ideal material for a speaker cone due to its low mass and high damping properties. PP cones offer good sensitivity and low distortion. However, basic raw polypropylene cones lack the rigidity and strength required for high output and extreme low bass. To resolve this, Pioneer engineers, using advanced Computer-Aided Manufacturing, developed a process to blend glass fibers and mica into the polypropylene resin during the injection molding process. The resulting reinforced IMPP™ cone is thinner and low mass with high rigidity and superior strength, producing natural, detailed sound with deep and powerful bass.
Butyl Rubber Suspension
Made from a specially blended, highly durable, and moisture-resistant compound, the butyl rubber keeps the cone moving in a precise linear direction. Not only does it provide greater consistency across various excursions, but it also reduces unwanted vibration from the cone to the basket during signal changes and stops. This results in less distortion and superior bass frequency response.
Double Aramid Fiber Spider
Pioneer's aramid fiber spider design effectively supports the voice coil by damping cone vibrations and improving linearity during sound reproduction. Its soft part ensures smooth movement and clear sound even under high power, while its firmer part controls excessive vibrations and prevents unwanted movements that cause distortion.
The design of a slim subwoofer requires a smaller distance between the front and rear suspensions, reducing their effectiveness in maintaining the necessary linearity during low-frequency excursions. To counter this disadvantage, Pioneer has developed a dual spider design, increasing the precision of movement without increasing mechanical resistance. The goal is simple: to provide all the details of your music by offering excellent control during long excursions while maintaining a small footprint in your car.
Deep Bass
To achieve deep and tight bass, a rigid and lightweight cone is essential. However, without a proper motor structure, it’s ineffective if you’re looking for a good bass punch. The subwoofer uses a strontium magnet paired with a large copper voice coil and a glass-imide voice-coil former for better bass control under high excursions. This also helps achieve better heat dissipation.
CarSoundfit App
Pioneer's Car Sound Fit app is a car sound simulator that lets you experience what your car could sound like using your own smartphone. You'll be able to hear the difference between stock speakers and Pioneer's various audio options, and see how the quality of Pioneer speakers can enhance your in-car experience. For a virtual listening demo of these and many other Pioneer car speakers, download the free Pioneer CarSoundFit app.
