The Z-Series is based on highly advanced technology developed by Pioneer, utilizing carefully selected materials and parts, and benefiting from our decades of automotive loudspeaker design theory and testing expertise. Following Pioneer’s OPEN & SMOOTH™ sound concept, the Z-Series automotive loudspeakers feature smooth off-axis frequency response, superior directivity, and an extended frequency range, engineered specifically to produce dynamic, accurate sound quality for your car. The result is a purity of sound that achieves unprecedented audio artistry.
Shallow Compact Design
Our shallow-mount subwoofer line, also known as slim subwoofers, is designed to provide greater installation options for a wide range of vehicles. These slim subwoofers feature many patent-pending innovations to deliver powerful bass performance typically associated with full-size subwoofers, but in a more compact design that can be installed behind or under seats, depending on the vehicle type. The shallow depth not only allows for the use of smaller, slimmer speaker boxes, but also enables this type of subwoofer to be installed in locations that were previously impossible.
Twaron® Aramid Fiber + Cellulose Fiber
Twaron® is a synthetic aramid fiber that is very strong, heat-resistant, and rigid when woven into a cloth material. Cellulose fibers are naturally self-damping and reduce unwanted resonance. This subwoofer's dual-layer cone, constructed with both a Twaron® layer and a cellulose layer, combines the strengths of both materials. The result is a fast response and clear bass, with low coloration and distortion.
Butyl Rubber Suspension
Made from a specially blended, highly durable, and moisture-resistant compound, the butyl rubber keeps the cone moving in a precise linear direction. Not only does it provide greater consistency across various excursions, but it also reduces unwanted vibration from the cone to the basket during signal changes and stops. This results in less distortion and superior bass frequency response.
High-Quality Dual-Spider Design
Pioneer's poly-cotton dual-spider design effectively supports the voice coil by damping cone vibrations and improving the linearity of sound reproduction. The softer part ensures smooth movement and clear sound even under high power, while the firmer part controls excessive vibrations and prevents unwanted movements that cause distortion.
The design of a slim subwoofer requires a smaller distance between the front and rear suspensions (spiders), reducing their effectiveness in maintaining the required linearity during low-frequency excursions. To counter this problem, Pioneer has developed a dual rear suspension design, increasing the precision of movement without increasing mechanical resistance. The goal is simple: to provide all the details of your music while offering excellent control during long excursions and maintaining a small footprint in your car.
Deep Bass
To achieve deep and tight bass, a rigid and lightweight cone is essential. However, without a proper motor structure, it’s useless if you’re looking for a good bass punch. This subwoofer uses a strontium magnet paired with a large copper voice coil and a glass-imide voice-coil former for better bass control under high excursions. This also helps achieve better heat dissipation.
CarSoundfit App
Pioneer's Car Sound Fit app is a car sound simulator that lets you experience what your car could sound like using your own smartphone. You'll be able to hear the difference between stock speakers and Pioneer's various audio options, and see how the quality of Pioneer speakers can enhance your in-car experience. For a virtual listening demo of these and many other Pioneer car speakers, download the free Pioneer CarSoundFit app.
