A Japanese Classic, Reimagined for Today
Inspired by the TS-X60—a beloved Pioneer classic first introduced in 1984—the TS-X40SXT carries forward its iconic box speaker design. It brings nostalgic appeal to longtime fans and fresh, JDM-inspired style to a new generation of drivers. One design, with appeal across generations.
Details That Do the Original Justice
A wire-mesh grille delivers a premium look and feel. A dark silver painted finish retains the metallic character of the TS-X60, while resin construction keeps it lightweight. Distinctive clear parts inspired by the original are crafted with meticulous attention to detail.
Deep-Profile Cellulose Fiber Woofers
The 5-1/4" woofers use deep-profile cellulose fiber cones that are lightweight yet highly rigid, combining classic looks with natural, responsive sound. The result is warm, detailed low-end that complements the TS-X40SXT’s classic character.
Bass Beyond Its Size
An optimized bass-reflex enclosure with double-slit ports delivers rich, full-bodied bass with a sense of scale beyond the speaker’s compact footprint. Mounted on the rear deck, the TS-X40SXT creates an enveloping sound field throughout the cabin—while preserving its classic appearance.
Clear, Expressive Mids and Highs
A 2-1/4" midrange with a cellulose fiber cone integrates smoothly with the deep-profile woofer to reproduce bright, expressive mid-range frequencies, while a 5/8" tweeter adds clarity and presence up top. Vocals and instruments come through with detail across a 45 Hz–36 kHz frequency response.
Surface-Mount Simplicity
Skip the cutting and custom fabrication. The TS-X40SXT’s free-standing, surface-mount design installs on your rear deck with the included brackets and hardware—keeping your original panels and trim intact. 5m speaker cables are included for a clean run to your head unit.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Are these sold as a pair?
Yes. The TS-X40SXT is sold as a pair of speakers with mounting hardware and two 5m speaker cables included.
Where do they mount?
The TS-X40SXT is a surface-mount (free-standing) speaker designed for rear-deck installation. Included brackets and hardware allow installation without cutting into door panels or original trim. Always confirm available space on your vehicle’s rear deck before purchasing.
What head unit should I use?
The TS-X40SXT works with any head unit or amplifier that supports 4-ohm speakers. For a matched, period-correct setup, pair it with the Pioneer SXT-C10PS Heritage receiver.
How much power can they handle?
Each speaker is rated at 25W nominal and 100W maximum music power, with a 4-ohm impedance and 84 dB sensitivity.
Will they fit in my car?
Each speaker measures 12-5/8" W x 6" D x 4-7/8" H (321 x 152 x 123 mm). They’re designed for rear decks in popular ’80s and ’90s classics—measure your rear deck to confirm fitment.
Are these a reissue of the original TS-X60?
Not exactly—think remastered, not re-released. The TS-X40SXT is an all-new design inspired by the TS-X60’s iconic look, with modern driver materials and a bass-reflex enclosure built for today.
